Second tram line in Brest: a group of orders with Toulouse and Besançon – Public transport and second tram line in Brest




New stage in the deployment of the tramway in Brest. On Wednesday September 29, a grouping of orders between Brest, Toulouse and Besançon was made public during the National Public Transport Meetings. With a common goal of cost optimization, Tisséo Collectivités (Toulouse), Brest Métropole and Grand Besançon Métropole have decided to come together to place an order for at least 24 new tram units, including ten for Brest. .

After launching the first grouping of orders in 2008 bringing together the two communities of Brest and Dijon, the city of Ponant continues its dynamic partnership and engages with the population meetings and preliminary consultations, in the various districts concerned.

5 km of additional line

In Brest, the creation of the second tram line covers a 5 km route that serves the station, the Quartz (Brest national scene), the universities, the Bellevue district and the Morvan and La Cavale-Blanche hospitals. In parallel with the tramway, the City of Brest and the metropolis are creating the first BRT line, the high-level service bus. Serving the train station, Brest center, the Saint-Martin district, the Kerichen and Red Cross schools as well as the Lambézellec district, the BHNS route covers 4.3 km.

It should be noted that this new network is accompanied by a strengthening of connections with the municipalities of the metropolis and beyond, via the development of nine multimodal exchange centers and bus links.
