BRUSSELS – European leaders and other world leaders plan to hold a second emergency summit in Paris on Wednesday while pressure grew to forge a coherent response to the Donald Trump division to end the war in Ukraine.
A smaller group of leaders – including those of France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Poland, Denmark and the United Kingdom – gathered in the French capital on Monday, After being left in shock from US President Trump to speak to Russian President Vladimir Putin and leave them in the cold.
The last meeting was not officially confirmed but should move forward, two European officials announced on Tuesday evening. “For the moment, we cannot indicate anything,” said a French government spokesman when he asked the meeting.
In addition to Monday participants, European countries in Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, the Czech Republic, Greece, Finland, Romania, Sweden and Belgium as well as Canada and Norway – the two NATO allies – are invited to Wednesday talks, according to Reuters, who first pointed out development.
