It was a fairly busy project for Seattle Seahawks, with managing director John Schneider and head coach Mike Macdonald with an intriguing collection of 11 new players.
Why Big Ray is a big fan of the first choice of Seattle Seahawks Gray Zabel
Who were the best and the worst choices? What choice was the most surprised? The former NFL quarter-back, Brock Huard, and co-host Mike Salk answered these questions on Monday morning during Brock and Salk de Seattle Sports.
The Seahawks write a quick fire
• What was the best choice?
He probably did not surprise as much as Huard and Salk were Seahawks fans who chose the Dakota Gray Zabel Dakota’s state -of -the -art person in N ° 18 in total. Zabel appears to compete immediately for a starting job at a position that was the most blatant need for the team before the project.
“Gray Zabel was the best choice, guy,” said Huard. “I came to understand that they were not going (exchange) below 25. They knew their need. There were some of the guys from this interior group they loved, but Gray Zabel was their (number). ”
“I would agree. I don’t think it’s really so close,” said Salk. “I mean, it is not necessarily my favorite choice … But how could you not like the fact that they get exactly what they needed in the right place? And as we talked about, the way the project went in the first round, I’m not sure they had a lot of choice.
• What choice has the highest advantage?
The Seahawks focus on the writing of players with elite sports features, especially in the first laps. No one seems to stand out athletically compared to other recovery prospects in their position more than the quarter-rear Jalen Milroe, which the Seahawks chose in the third round. The Alabama product made a 4.40 -second dashboard of 40 yards during its professional day and has a race capacity that made comparisons with the MVP twice Lamar Jackson.

“If you get a quarter of a franchise in the third round, it has the highest advantage,” said Salk. “With his ability to run and everything else, if he can understand the past part, Jalen Milroe is the highest choice they made, and 92 is a perfect place to do it.”
• What was the most important choice?
The tight end seemed to be a position that the Seahawks would approach the draft at one point, but Elijah Arroyo de Miami in the second round may not have been the most obvious. Arroyo’s biggest skills come as a receiver. He has the sports features of an elite lust in the project, but there are questions about his blocking capacities, and he has dealt with the knee injuries at the university, including a torn LCA.
“I don’t think he was their tight (better choice),” said Huard. “This kid Mason Taylor (out of LSU) became very high in the second round, but he was just behind him and they were not going to let him go down the board.”
“I’m not down on Elijah Arroyo,” said Salk. “I am a little down to choose a tight end at 50. I would have liked to see them take another offensive line player there. ”
• What seahawks are most enjoying the project?
The Seahawks had to be on the market for a cornerback in this year’s draft, perhaps even during the second or third laps, but did not end up taking one. Huard and Salk agreed that it was good news for Riq Wooolen, who heads for the last year of his contract, and Josh Jobe.
“Their jobs have become much safer at the moment,” said Salk. “Now that does not mean that they will find someone to challenge them possibly.”
• Which current Seahawks are on the hot seat?
With 11 choices, the Seahawks were able to respond to several positions. This also meant that there are a number of players who could fight to keep their playing time or even a list place.
The tight positions and the ball carrier stood out for Salk.
“I mean, of course, it’s Noah Fant,” said Salk. “But also, I think that if you are in this back room, whether it is Ken Walker or the child of Georgia, Kenny McIntosh, I think all these guys are probably a little on the watch now after taking another ball carrier.”
Huard underlined the wide Jake Bobo receiver. The Seahawks have added passes sensors that can also contribute to special teams like Bobo. This includes Ricky White III of the UNLV, which blocked four booted shifts in college.
“They had guys here who can really, really, they had guys here who will make this team,” said Huard.
Salk also mentioned goalkeeper Anthony Bradford, who had healthy trouble last season and does not seem to adapt to the style of a necessary line player in the system of the KUBIAK attacking coordinator.
“Given the three guys they have drafted and their biggest connective line of being athletic and (having) a speed, I do not see how Anthony Bradford is in this team. I do not see it,” said Salk. “If that’s what they are looking for in their guard, Anthony Bradford is not that. I’m not sure that Christian Haynes is either, but I know it’s not Anthony Bradford.”
• What was the most surprising choice?
Salk and Huard had different opinions on their most surprising choice. Salk went with the tight winger of the Alabama Robbie Outz, a 275 pounds, the Seahawks convert back. And Huard went with Milroe.
“It’s like, wait, what?” This tight end? Who had (had) 160 yards last year? ” Said salk.
“Milroe is still (most surprising) with Sam Darnold and locks on the list,” said Huard. “Now I love it.
• Who will be the most impressive looking at the recruit camp?
The consensus was that security in the second round Nick Emmanwori would be the most impressive in the recruit camp. He played the combination of screening while publishing the highest vertical jump (43 inches) and a wide jump (11 feet, 6 inches) of any participant, and he was second among the security with a 40 second of 4.38 seconds.
“This guy is Adonis,” said Huard. “(Former Seahawk half-cooking) Shawn Springs was like the most perfectly sculpted athlete I have ever seen in my life. … Italian sculptors in the first century, you can’t do it better than that, it’s not better than that. And it’s Nick Emmanwori.”
• Who is Damien Martinez?
This year’s race class was considered very deep, and the Seahawks were able to take a very productive in the seventh round to Damien Martinez from Miami. He rushed to more than 1,000 yards during his last two university seasons, which included 1,185 yards in the 2023 campaign while she was in Oregon State.
“You will see a little (Zach) Charbonnet, a little in bulk,” said Huard. “He is more carbon than Macintosh and (Walker).”
• Bryce Cabeldue or Mason Richman have a better chance of playing early?
After approaching the O early line with the choice of Zabel, the Seahawks took the Kansas Bryce Cabeldue goalkeeper in the sixth round and the Iowa Tackle Mason Richman in the seventh.
“(Cabeldue) The fact because of this athletics, because he slides to keep,” said Huard, who has a lot of experience with Cabeldue of his time to call Big 12 for Fox. “And one of the conversations I have had with some of his coaches over the years and even in this accumulation (for the project), you know what? It is perhaps not a bad thing that it is a choice of end of the round and that it will be in Prouvage mode instead of know-how.”
• What was the most Mike Macdonald choice?
No surprise, Huard and Salk went with the two defensive players selected.
“The way (Macdonald) spoke (defensive tackle) Rylie Mills, Rylie Mills is Mike Macdonald’s guy,” said Huard.
“I think it must be Nick Emmanwori,” said Salk. “I mean, just the ability to move him to defense.”
• Who was the most John Schneider choice?
Huard went with White, who said Schneider reminded him of Donald Driver. The driver was a wide receiver off the Pro Bowl chosen in the seventh round while Schneider was in Green Bay.
“Ricky White has a little trick for him now,” said Huard. “Unfortunately for him, it was a fairly deep receiver project with a lot of guys who played a lot of ball.”
Since Schneider was previously in love with a quarter of a quarter like Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes, Salk hopes that it is Milroe.
“I hope he had the same level of conviction on Milroe he had with some of the other guys he wanted a quarter over the years,” said Salk.
