Seattle man discovers world’s rarest Xbox at garage sale for $50, with similar version already attracting bids 400 times higher

A Seattle man once discovered a very rare Xbox at a yard sale and bought it for just $50, but was able to sell it for much more.

The original Xbox was launched by Microsoft over two decades ago, in 2001.

As of May 2006, Microsoft has sold more than 24 million units.

So you might think there’s nothing rare about the console, but there are some extremely rare models out there, and one of them was unearthed at a garage sale.

Man Who Found Ultra-Rare Xbox Had No Idea What It Was

In 2015, gamer and collector Emilio was visiting a yard sale near his home in Seattle when he saw old consoles and games for sale.

Appearing on YouTube channel Metal Jesus Rocks in 2015, Emilio admitted he had no idea what the console was when he first spotted it.

He assumed it was just a modified case on an original Xbox.

But upon closer inspection, he realized that it contained the official name of Microsoft and Halo brand, and decided to buy it, parting with only .

Now if you go back to the original Xbox Halo console that came out, you may remember that it came in a translucent green case.

So, Emilio initially thought that the Xbox might be a fake.

However, after doing some research online, he discovered that orange Halo The Xbox he had just purchased for was actually an extremely rare find.

Unlike the mass-produced green Halo consoles, only three of the orange consoles were made, and only one of them bore the Halo logo.

Additionally, they were never sold to the public.

Emilio managed to get in touch with the Microsoft employee who actually made the console, who explained to him that he had built this particular model for a friend.

How this ended up at a garage sale priced at is a story for the friend to explain, but Emilio was thrilled with the super rare Xbox.

He sold the orange console for much more than he paid for it

Emilio said he took a bit of a risk in buying the Xbox because he wasn’t sure if it was fake, or even if it still worked.

But his gamble more than paid off, as in an update under the YouTube video a year later, Metal Jesus Rocks said it had been sold to a private collector for the hefty sum of ,000.

A truly incredible return on its initial investment.

Meanwhile, a similar model was auctioned off for Goodwill and fetched over ,000.
