Season 25 of “The Voice” crowns Asher HaVon

Asher HaVon is the champion of The voice 2024.

The Selma, Alabama native emerges at the top of his class on the 25th season of the NBC singing competition, winning Tuesday night’s (May 21) all-star finale.

After performances of “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston on Monday evening, then, in Tuesday’s finale, a rendition of “Last Dance” by Donna Summer and a duet with her coach Reba McEntire on “One My Own” by Patti LaBelle, HaVon (Team Reba) was the last competitor standing. He finished ahead of a top 5 finish ahead of Karen Waldrup (Team Dan + Shay in 5th place), Nathan Chester (Team Legend in 4th), Bryan Olesen (Team Legend in 3rd) and Josh Sanders (Team Reba in second).

Before his name was called, HaVon praised McEntire for his support and guidance. “Oh my God, this means everything to me,” he remarked. “Thank you for giving me such a safe place to be artistic, thank you for making me believe in myself. And I promise you that I will never let you down. McEntire finishes the season with a rare 1-2.

HaVon, 31, has impressed throughout the season with his powerful, honeyed voice, flair and big-game instincts.

Along the way, he delivered an impressive performance of Sia and David Guetta’s “Titanium” during the Playoffs, which had Dan+ Shay’s Shay Mooney enthused, “It was like a Grammy moment for you, man.”

John Legend likened the effort to a religious experience. “There are certain things about you that remind me of Whitney Houston. She would take these songs that weren’t written for a soul singer and have this restraint and regal presence about the sound, but she would also throw a drug run that you would hear in church,” Legend said. “In church we reserve a descriptor for certain vessels, we say they are anointed. I just felt this anointing on you. It was divine. The legend is going to be smart right now; he is the only coach who did not turn around during HaVon’s blind audition.

HaVon’s resume includes a spot singing for Barack Obama at one of the former president’s hometown civil rights commemorations, and now the swag for The voice 2024.

A star cast joined both evenings The voice finale, including Keith Urban (Monday), The Black Keys, Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson and Kate Hudson (all featured in Tuesday’s episode).

In a special moment, a group of favorite coaches from the past graced the stage to celebrate its 25th season, from Kelly Clarkson to CeeLo Green, Niall Horan, Jennifer Hudson, Nick Jonas, Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani.
