Columbus, Ohio – The Ohio State Ryan Day football coach established a high bar last year.
After a monumental decision to give up playing tasks, he did not hire a rising star on the field or an active coordinator from a small school.
Instead, Day caused a sensation by hiring a head coach sitting Big Ten. He added Chip Kelly, one of his longtime mentors, to Ohio State staff.
This led to a successful race with buckeyes finishing the 2024 season under confetti. Now Day has another decision to make with Kelly leaving for Las Vegas raiders after a season in Columbus.
Here are some names for the day to consider at the attacking coordinator.
Day admitted that the abandonment of the game was not something he wanted to do. He thought it was the right thing to do, letting him play more than one role of CEO for the program.
However, finding a coordinator was not easy.
He initially hired Bill O’Brien – a game player established with the Tom Brady, Deshaun Watson and Bryce Young training experience.
When O’Brien left shortly after to be head coach of Boston College, Day turned to his longtime mentor again and former coach.
It is clear that the day only wanted to give offensive responsibilities towards someone in whom they trust. If it is difficult to find a candidate worthy of this, Day could decide to regain control.
Wilson has already served as an offensive coordinator of the day in Columbus (2017-22). However, Day has always held game tasks.
It may be the time to bring Wilson back.
Wilson left Ohio State before the 2023 season to serve as a head coach of Tulsa. After having collected a file of 7-16, Wilson was dismissed with a match remaining in the 2024 campaign.
Wilson expressed support to the Buckeyes throughout their series of university football playoffs, thanks in large part to his son, Toby Wilson, serving as an offensive player on foot for the team.

When he was hired as a head coach of Alabama last year, Kalen Deboer hired Kane Wommack – then the active head coach of South Alabama – as a defensive coordinator.
Day could follow a similar formula by hiring an active head coach in a school of five groups of his condition.
Joe Moorhead has been at the helm for Akron since 2022. Before joining the zips, he spent two years (2020-21) as an offensive coordinator of Oregon, helping to lead the Ducks to a 35-28 victory at Ohio State at the start of the 2021 campaign.
His previous judgments include a two-year stay (2018-19) as a Mississippi State chief coach after two seasons as an offensive coordinator of Penn State (2016-17).
Hartline has become one of the most important coaches in the country. He recruited and developed the Ohio State receiver room in an impressive place, underlined by the immediate emergence of Jeremiah Smith in a star.
It may be time for him to play a more important role.
Hartline has been with Buckeyes since he was hired as an offensive quality control assistant under Urban Meyer in 2017. He was raised to the recipient coach in 2018 – a role he occupied even after having Taken its doors as a chief coach in 2019.
Hartline added the title of attacking coordinator to his curriculum vitae in 2023, although Day was the game player.
After six seasons with the day, including a subsa Kelly, Hartline should be ready for responsibility if it is called.

Oregon has become a conference rival as well as a recruitment enemy for Ohio State under coach Dan Lanning. Maybe Day can offer a powerful swing and bring Stein from the Buckeyes Ducks.
Stein, originally from Kentucky who has played the quarter to Louisville, has been the offensive coordinator of Oregon since 2023. He helped direct one of the most prolific offenses in university football, underlined by the BO game game Nix and Dillon Gabriel.
Stein’s coach career began as a graduate assistant to his Alma Mater in 2013. He spent the 2014 campaign as a quality control coach before leaving for a similar role in Texas (2015-2017).
Stein moved to the ranks of Texas High School for two years before joining staff from the University of Texas in San Antonio (2020-22).
The pursuit of the candle would follow a similar formula to hire Moorhead.
Candle has been the head coach of Toledo since 2016, constantly leading one of the best score offenses of the American conference.
Candle is a former large receiver who played in Geneva College and the University of Mount Union. His coach career began as a receiver coach for Mount Union (2003-06) before being raised to an attacking coordinator (2007-08).
He arrived in Toledo in 2009 where he led to various positions, included a passage as an attacking coordinator (2012-2015), before being raised in the head coach after the departure of Matt Campbell for the state of Iowa.
