Broncos head coach Sean Payton said at a press conference on Thursday that he was happy that the team has solved their quarter number in last year’s draft and that the best way to help Bo Nix has been the subject of several questions on this year.
Payton said he thought there were two main allies to help any quarter. Payton said that “a very good defense and a very good racing game” are great advantages in the game of a signal and said that there were players who can help in these two areas.
The Broncos have done a little more to upgrade defense in free agency and Payton suggested that they will go to the rear field next week.
“The emphasis will be placed on the post of ball carrier,” said Payton. “It’s a fairly good project for runners.”
Payton said there are a number of back types in this year and said that he and managing director George Paton wondered “how to add to what we do offensively”. He also said that writing a back on the first round – Broncos have the 20th choice in total – works “if you have a real clear vision of how you want to use them” and Paton said that the team was ready to do so next Thursday, so that they could attack the job from the start.
