Sean Mcvay: Tash Push “does not look like football”

It will be difficult to find 24 teams that are sufficiently opposed to the “Tash push” to push it from the rules book. But there are some who believe that the game does not belong to the game.

Rams coach Sean Mcvay, member of the competition committee, explained his position during a visit to Monday to PFT live. The comments came a day after a little “lively“Conversation between Mcvay, the invoice coach Sean McDermott, the Eagles GM Howie Roseman and the assistant of the Eagles GM Jon Ferrari.

“Here’s what I would say,” said Mcvay. “I don’t do it – and I said to these guys – I don’t think I eliminate something because they do it better than anyone. And I told Jon and Howie that when we talked yesterday.

“What I don’t like is the optics of this game. It looks like a rugby scrum. And there are also things of health and safety, which these things exist in short distance and objective line situations. I am not in conflict because you do not want to be a hateful because they do it better than anyone is only. You know, these guys they understood, but obviously, you know where they are on this.

A problem comes from the current proposal, as formulated by packers. The rule would prohibit the teammates from pushing “immediately” the buckllon carrier. This term could create more questions than they answer.

“These are a lot of conversations in terms of semantics, details, and then I think that a lot of dialogue dates back to some of the conversations we have had within the competition committee is:” Very well, how do we allow it to be clearly officiated and this is where certain things become granular? “” Said Mcvay. “What I understand about Green Bay’s proposal is that it is specifically that plays with regard to the immediate push behind the center and what this represents. What is this moment? In a second, what they had in a way communicated to us, but that opens up other things and consistency through – you have an appreciation for challenges and semantics with that. I will see how this vote is going tomorrow.”

It almost seems that it would be logical to offer a new proposal. Something that addresses the problem more coherently and reliably, such as eliminating the capacity to push the ball at all or, at least, no thrust of the broom carrier in the tackle box. Mcvay was asked if he thought that the owners could decide to rewrite the current proposal in these ways or others.

“I think that could be something that we will visit in a year or maybe even when the owners meet in May,” said Mcvay, “but for tomorrow, I don’t necessarily think that it is management, but I would be really interested in seeing how they vote.”

He recognized that it will be difficult to go to 24. Sometimes, however, it is important to have the discussion in order to see if a medium is based behind a specific idea to solve the problem.

And, as Mcvay said, it might have been better than the room was never allowed in the first place. In this regard, the League has only to blame for having withdrawn the rules in 2006 the ban on pushing the buckllon holder.

It is incredible that a team took 16 years to understand how to arm this roof. It is even more surprising than only two teams (Eagles and Bills) have found a way to take full advantage of it, with the version of Philly much more likely to rely on an “immediate” push.
