On Friday, a federal judge from New York denied a request to delay the trial on Sean “Diddy” sexual traffic combines two months after his lawyers asked for more time to prepare for their defense.
Judge Arun Subramanian said the selection of the jury on the trail will start on May 5 as planned.
“We do not know why there is not enough time to prepare,” he told Combres lawyers on Friday after two additional counts were added to the case earlier this month. The prosecutors had opposed the request to move the trial.
Combs, 55, pleaded not guilty to five charges of sexual trafficking, transportation to engage in prostitution and racket conspiracy which, according to prosecutors, took place over a period of two decades. He has been held in federal detention in New York since his arrest last September.
Prosecutors accused Combres and others of forcing at least three women to engage in sexual acts with him and, sometimes, with male prostitutes. The occasions when prosecutors say that women were often drugged and forced to engage in sex for days were known as “monsters”. The authorities allege that Combs has recorded some of the sexual acts and controlled its victims by promising financial and career opportunities, as well as by threats of violence and other damages.
