Prosecutors finally confirmed that Sean “Diddy” Combs had been proposed – and rejected – a advocacy agreement during a court hearing on Friday, April 25, just a few weeks before the start of the Mogul’s disgrace trial, the sexual traffic trial.
The long -term agreement was mentioned towards the end of the hearing, during which a variety of other questions were discussed. The prosecutors asked judge Arun Subramanian if he could “attribute” the combs to the advocacy agreement, essentially the meaning, ask him for the court and in the file if he understands the plea which was offered to him and rejected. Subramanian said that he would approach the advocacy at a hearing on Thursday, April 1.
The terms of the advocacy agreement that Diddy rejected are unknown, and it is not clear if they will never be revealed. A combat lawyer has not immediately returned RollerComment request.
This is the standard procedure for prosecutors to offer advocacy agreements in most cases they supervise, even when they believe they have a solid argument. Francisco Mundaca, former state prosecutor in New York and now owner of the Mundaca law firm, says Roller“This often happens in these types of cases. With cases of sexual assault, prosecutors try to protect the alleged victims as much as possible.
With the revelation of the plea rejected, Friday’s hearing also saw the Subramanian judge reigns that the 2016 security images beating Cassie Ventura of the girlfriend of the time in a hotel in Los Angeles could be shown at the jury. The infamous images fled last May, and at the time, Combs (which had not yet been arrested and charged) even published a short video of excuses, in which he said: “I take full responsibility for my actions in this video. I am disgusted. I was disgusted so when I did, and I am disgusted now.”
In recent weeks, however, Combs and his lawyers have fought hard to discredit the video and make it inadmissible as proof. Last March, Combs alleged that CNN had changed the security images and destroyed the original band. He accused the network of “covering the exploitation and then modifying the video sequence” and “accelerating the video to falsely appear that the actions of the video take place faster than them”. CNN has published a declaration refusing Combs complaints.
From the decision on the video, Mundaca says: “It is a huge victory for the accusation and a difficult loss for defense. I do not see how a member of the jury will be able to see this video and to think favorably in Sean Combs. It will be difficult to watch. The visuals are so powerful on the test, they are almost irrefacked.”
The Combs trial is expected to start on May 5. He pleaded not guilty of sexual loads and racketeering, and denied all the other allegations of misconduct against him.
