Sean Combs lawyers lost their offer to keep all the images of his hotel assault in 2016 against her former girlfriend, Casandra Ventura, of her racketeering and sex traffic trial, which begins next month.
On Friday, during a hearing, judge Arun Subramanian ruled that images surrounding the attack could be admitted, but it is not yet clear what will be the quantity.
The lawyers of the music magnate argued that the security images, published by CNN last year, had been accelerated and that the illustrated events were presented outside the sequence. They did not dispute that the video showed that their customer was beating, cut and dragged Ms. Ventura, but they said that the way the images had been presented were “misleading” and not being used as proof.
The government does not seek to admit all the dissemination of CNN in the trial, but there are other images of the incident, including the files provided by CNN via a summons.
Prosecutors said they worked to slow down some of the CNN images based on defense concerns. They also declared that there were two iPhone videos taken on the original images which partly describe the incident, and the witness who took them at the trial.
The jury selection process in the case begins on Monday and the opening declarations are scheduled for May 12.
