Chief judge John Roberts raised the shoulders of criticisms while “ventilation” one day after the Supreme Court won a huge victory for President Donald Trump.
“It is not the fault of the judges that a correct interpretation of the law meant that” no, you cannot do this “”, Roberts said During a conference for judges on Saturday. “If it’s just a fainting because you lost, then it’s not very useful.”
While the Declaration of Roberts focused on the reactions to the decisions of the courts in general, the court faced criticisms withered for a controversial decision on Friday which helps Trump to thwart federal judges.
The decision prevents judges from the district court from issuing injunctions nationally against Trump’s decrees, which had often interrupted the agenda of the president’s standards during his second term.
Roberts also urged “policies” using inflammatory rhetoric against lawyers from the decisions with which they disagree.
“The danger, of course, is that someone could resume this, and we, of course, had serious threats of violence and murder of judges just for doing their job,” he said. “I think politicians on both sides of the aisle should keep this in mind.”
In March, Roberts published a rare public declaration to reprimand Trump for doing exactly that. The president had called for the dismissal of a federal judge who rendered a decision against his mass deportation effort.
“For more than two centuries, it has been established that dismissal has not been an appropriate response to disagreement concerning a legal decision,” said Roberts. “The normal appeal examination process exists for this purpose.”
Trump congratulated the conservatives of the Supreme Court, including Roberts, for Friday’s decision, who divided court 6-3 according to ideological lines.
“We have seen a handful of radical judges on the left effectively try to replace the president’s legitimate powers to prevent the American people from obtaining the policies for which they voted in record numbers,” he said before journalists in the White House. “I am grateful to the Supreme Court for having intervened and having solved this very, very, very large and complex problem, and they made things very simple,” added Trump. I would like to thank Judge Barrett, who brilliantly wrote the opinion, as well as the chief judge Roberts and the Alito judges, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Thomas. »»
