Scottish FA Cup Final LIVE: Celtic and Rangers meet at Hampden Park for showpiece derby clash – kick-off time, team news and how to follow

Celtic are set to face Rangers this weekend in the Scottish FA Cup final at Hampden Park.

The Old Firm rivals have knocked out the competition, and the final piece of silverware from the Scottish domestic campaign will go to one of the Glasgow giants.

Each team has won a domestic trophy each this season, with the Gers winning the League Cup in December and the Bhoys winning the SPFL title just a few weeks ago.

And what better way to end the 2023/24 season than seeing Celtic and Rangers battle it out for one more trophy?

Scottish FA Cup Final 2023/24: Glasgow giants meet

Unsurprisingly, Celtic and Rangers have won the most Scottish FA Cups in history.

The Bhoys lead with 41, followed closely by the Gers with 34.

The next most successful club is Queen’s Park with ten, so it’s a competition that has been dominated by the big two in Glasgow.

But despite the success of these two, this is the first time they have faced each other in the Scottish FA Cup for some time.

Celtic have not met their city rivals in the showpiece event since the 2002/03 season.

On this occasion Rangers won 3-2 in a great match, so let’s hope for something similar here.

Scottish FA Cup Final 2023/24: Team news

Celtic are hoping to have defender Stephen Welsh available after suffering a shoulder injury.

Meanwhile, Philippe Clément is missing many players.

Connor Goldson played his final match this season and joins Danilo, Ryan Jack and Kieran Dowell on the bench.

Scottish FA Cup Final 2023/24: What was said?

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has spoken about what he expects from his players in the final.

He said: “They know it’s part of the job here.

“This job (winning the championship) is done, we finished the season as deserved champions.

“I’m so proud of the way the players handled the pressure they were under in the last nine games. Eight wins and a draw, and the draw we should have won. But it really shows the concentration and the humility of the team.

“We’re in the final, and finals are about winning. It might seem unfair to ask them to leave after that, but they get a little rest after the final. Then the international boys will meet again.

“We are focusing a lot on our plan and preparation this week, getting ready for this special occasion.

“We are relaxed but focused. It was nice to celebrate this weekend, but now we are focusing on the final. We are ready to put in a similar performance to the one we did against Kilmarnock.

“Very good preparation, we are playing on a fantastic surface, it’s the last showpiece match of the season and we want to give the best of ourselves. It would be the ideal end to a fantastic season.”
