A suprise ?

There shouldn’t be any.

Scheffler, the world’s No. 1 player, is currently playing like an unstoppable force.

Nothing bothers him.

He goes from one tournament to another without being affected by his ranking or by the pressures linked to his respect or by his difficulties putting putts.

After a rather modest 2-under-par 34 on the front nine in Thursday’s opening round of the Masters, Scheffler shot a back-to-back 32 to finish with a 6-under-par 66.

That puts him within one stroke of the lead held by Bryson DeChambeau on a day when the opening round was delayed two and a half hours due to heavy rain and thunderstorms.

The remainder of the round will conclude on Friday morning before the start of the second round.
