Last year, the preparation of Scottie Scheffler for his second round at the PGA championship started with him in handcuffs at the back of a police car from Louisville.
This time, he walked in Quail Hollow without attracting the attention of the police and had exactly the day he wanted.
There were no chaos and prison cup. Just a typically brilliant golf round that we expect from him.
One per 68 of three sous left the chief, the Jhonattan Vegas of Venezuela, firmly in the views of Scheffler and he looks ready to leap this weekend.
Scheffler, playing alongside Rory McILroy and Xander Schauffele in the most catchy group of the first two days, sorted out two holes on the nine and two others at the back.
The only imperfection on his dashboard came to the 13th par-3, where his capricious kick disturbed the spectators on the left side of the green. He had 15 feet to save by but could not convert.

Scheffler played again with Rory McILroy, who endured another difficult day
It seems remarkable that, for all its success on the PGA Tour, Scheffler has yet won two major championships.
He seems ready to add to this in the next two days.
“I like the position in which I am in the weekend,” he said after his round.
“Obviously, I would like to be a little higher in the ranking. I think I got out of my game a lot the last two days.
“I felt like, as the turn continued, my swing continued to improve and I was able to hit key plans in the section to give me some opportunities. I look forward to the weekend.
Now Scheffler’s work is to track down Vegas, who managed to keep the head after the second round.
Vegas, who started the two clear shots and led an adult for the first time in his career, drew a 70 under a sub-peak to reach eight sous, leaving him two shots at Matthieu Pavon, Matt Fitzpatrick and if Woo Kim.
Elsewhere, Max Homa has produced the best major round of his career to move to discord.
Homa, which won the first title of PGA Tour of his career at Quail Hollow in 2019, produced a 64 of Sept-Bas thanks to a first sensational holes which left him tied in fifth row with Scheffler and Ryan Gerard.
