The schools of the island of Santorini will remain closed on Monday, due to the seismic activity continues in the region.
This decision follows a meeting with government representatives, including the Minister of Civil Protection Vasilis Kikilias and the Vice-Minister Evangelos Tournas, after increased tremors were recorded near the sea between Santorini and Amorgos.
The strongest earthquake measured 4.3 the amplitude. The authorities have specified that the tremors are linked to tectonic movements, and not to volcanic activity.
Citizens are advised to avoid large rallies in closed spaces and to stay away from the Amodi areas and the old port. The situation is closely monitored and other measures may be taken if necessary.
