Saudi policy ‘one of, if not the most incoherent’ part of Biden’s agenda

On Friday’s “Morning Joe” show on MSNBC, Axios national political reporter Jonathan Swan said the Biden administration’s “completely inconsistent” Saudi policy where, after Biden vowed to do of the nation an outcast, then reversed course, to “be one of, if not the most incoherent, element of Joe Biden’s political agenda.

Swan said: “The politics of Saudi Arabia has got to be one of, if not the most incoherent part of Joe Biden’s political agenda. Because it’s someone with a lot of experience in foreign affairs, who comes – presumably during the election campaign, does not vaguely say that we should do [them] an outcast, but he did it with some forethought as to what that means. Joe Biden is very aware of all dimensions of the Saudi relationship, we need this country for x, y and z. So, to say that we’re going to make it a pariah, we’re going to refocus our foreign policy around human rights, come to power, start to act on that, and then have this dizzying reversal, with, when the prices gas starts to rise, then the punch, then the retraction, it’s just completely inconsistent. It is difficult to know what their position is on this policy.
