Sarah Silverman revealed a tragic family story.
In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Silverman spoke of his new special comedy, “Postmortem” and how the past of his family has shaped part of his Standup work.
“My father had a heartbreaking childhood,” Silverman told the publication. “His father beat the s ** t of him every day, merciless. He had a younger brother who was not touched. His father called the children Mr. Silverman.”
According to comics, her father found a link with his mother, Beth Ann, an artist who was also mistreated when she was a child. They were not a happy union for several reasons, including the fact that Silverman’s father was unfaithful to his mother, she said.
“She was more a free spirit than my father, who wanted to be a writer but rather took control of her father. Once they were married and that she became part of him in terms of ego, he struck it with her and made fun of her,” said Silverman. “He humiliated her and felt that she was lazy because she was a lot in bed
But there was even more sadness.
Five years before the birth of Silverman, his brother, Jeffrey, had three months when he was submitted to the parents of Donald and died after a part of his child’s bed.
“The story was that something happened with the cradle, and Jeffrey’s little body slipped and he smothered,” Silverman told Rolling Stone. “But if you look back, there has never been a lawsuit with the cradle company or anything.”
Silverman said years later, his father shared what he really thought he had arrived at Jeffrey.
“My father said,” I always felt that he was crying or something like that, and my father rocked him, “recalls Silverman. “” He rocked him in a rage and killed him. “”
“As soon as he said, it was like” of course, that’s what happened “”, remembers Silverman.
“Her mother was still standing next to her husband,” she said her father’s parents. “She watched her beat her son’s s ** t. I couldn’t ask my mother because she was dead.”
Silverman’s father has also died since, as well as his parents.
“Sarah Silverman: post mortem” is in trouble on Netflix.
