SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) – Authorities in Santa Rosa have arrested an arson suspect in connection with several fires that broke out in the same area early Wednesday morning.
At 6 a.m. on Wednesday, units of the Santa Rosa Fire Department responded to several reports of a wildfire on Guerneville Road, just east of Ridley Avenue. Arriving firefighters quickly found and extinguished a 5ft by 20ft

About 30 minutes later, authorities received reports of a second nearby fire. Firefighters located burning debris in the area of Guerneville Road and Lance Drive. Moments later, reports were received of a third fire along a creek near Herbert Street and Jennings Avenue.
Based on the fire activity, several fire investigators from the SRFD and police officers from Santa Rosa also responded to the area. While on patrol in the general area, a fourth fire was located at 6:53 a.m. by a fire investigator along the
SMART train tracks in the Central Avenue and Carrillo Street area.

This fire was confined to an area of debris and vegetation 15 feet by 15 feet. A witness who spotted a potential arson suspect provided authorities with a description and fire investigators located a suspect who matched the description.
Based on evidence and information, the suspect was taken into custody by the Santa Rosa Police Department. Authorities confirmed that all fires were completely extinguished. There has been no threat to structures in the area and no injuries have been reported.
