San Jose Sharks lose against Edmonton’s Oilers; Leon Draisaitl injured

San Jose – Obtaining the production of points from their defense corps will undoubtedly help the San Jose Sharks while they are trying to finish what remains of this season on a positive note.

He helped Sharks remain competitive against Edmonton’s Oilers for the playoffs Thursday evening.

Mario Ferraro collected two assists and Jack Thompson scored his fourth goal of the season, but a goal from Jeff Skinner in the second period made the difference because the Oilers gave the Sharks a 3-2 defeat before an announced crowd of 14,152 at SAP Center.

On the game, a playing in the Sharks area returned to the defender of the Evan Bouchard Oilers, whose shooting was redirected by the Skinner skateboard after the goalkeeper of San Jose Georgi Romanov at 14:57 of the second period.

Romanov finished with 35 stops, and Tyler Toffoli scored his 28th goal of the season, but the Sharks, despite a better overall performance than the unbalanced results against the New York Rangers and Los Angeles Kings, lost their fourth consecutive match.

Connor Brown and Victor Arvidsson also scored for the Oilers, who played the second half of the match without the NHL top scorer, Leon Draisaitl. The Oilers Center, which has 52 goals this season, has left the match with an injury to the lower body.

In the 11 games since they exchanged defender Jake Walman, the Sharks only managed three goals and 12 assists from their defenders. But against the oilers, the Sharks seemed to want to activate their defenders a little more to create strange opportunities.

This was the case on Toffoli’s goal at 8:48 a.m. from the second period. Ferraro joined the rush and took a pass from Macklin Celebrini on a 3 against 2 and found Toffoli, who equaled the 2-2 match.

Thompson was recalled Monday from Barracuda after defender Luca Cagnoni and striker Patrick Giles were returned to the AHL. Sharks also lost defender Vincent Desharnais to an upper body injury at the end of last week.

Thompson spent most of March in AHL and has collected five points in his last four games.

Mukhamadullin Out: Shakir Mukhamadullin did not play Thursday, and it is not difficult to know if the defender of injured Sharks will be able to return this season.

Sharks coach Ryan Warsofsky said Mukhamadullin was still being evaluated after having undergone an upper body injury at the start of the third period of the team match against the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday.

It is not known if Mukhamadullin will be able to return this season. Sharks, already officially eliminated from affirmations in playoffs, are only seven games with their last match on April 16 at home, also against Edmonton.

At the start of the third period of Tuesday match at the Honda Center, Mukhamadullin collided with Troy Terry in the neutral area, overthrowing the ducks forward. Mukhamadullin was encountered by Anaheim’s winger, Frank Vatrano, who dropped his stick, threw his gloves, caught the Blueliner of the sharks and dragged him to the ice.

With the unavailable Muhamadullin, the leftist defender Henry Thrun has returned to the range of Sharks for the first time since March 8, when he re-aged an upper body injury in a match against the New York Islanders. Thrun, who missed 13 of the last 14 games, recently patinated but did not follow a full -contact Sharks practice before Thursday.

Injured Georgiev: The goalkeeper leaving the Sharks Alexandar Georgiev has a maximum injury of the body and has not played against the Oilers. The injury, however, is not considered serious, because Georgiev skated Thursday morning. Georgi Romanov started against the Oilers, and Gabriel Carriere, recalled by the Barracuda on Thursday, argued him.

Yaroslav Askarov, who re-engaged in an injury to the lower body before Wednesday’s Barracuda match against Ontario and did not play, traveled with the team in Colorado and is available to play with the Ahl of the Sharks on Friday and Saturday. Askarov has not played since February 19 when he suffered the injury for the first time.

Back home: Thursday marked the first game of Walman and Ty Emberson in San Jose since his negotiation by the Sharks. Walman was sent to Edmonton just before the trade deadline last month for a first round conditional choice in 2026, and Emberson went to the Oilers last summer in the agreement which led the defender Cody this and a third round choice in 2025 in San Jose.
