Samsung has not done much to upgrade the camera equipment on its basis and more Galaxy S models in recent years. The company has reused the same Isocell GN3 sensor (S5KGN3) since the launch of the Galaxy S23, but things could finally change with the Galaxy S26 next year.
It seems a bit early to be sure of everything that concerns the next premium range. Nevertheless, new pieces of information determined by our colleagues at Galaxyclub Paint a painting full of hope. Namely, that the basic Galaxy S26 will use a different wide camera.
The source indicates that the sensor to be used by the Galaxy S26 retains a resolution of 50 MP. Nevertheless, despite the identical resolution as the GN3, the sensor itself appears different. This could mean that it has higher characteristics despite the number of pixels of 50 Mp.
Other technical details have so far been unknown. However, the sensor will probably be manufactured by Samsung under the Isocell GN brand. It is possible that Samsung has not yet announced it, so it will be new.
Given the usual Samsung format in recent years, it goes without saying that if the basic Galaxy S26 has a new 50MP sensor, the Galaxy S26 + also does it. After all, the basic models and more generally share camera specifications.
Again, rumors about Samsung Canning of the variant plus next year made a return. The disappearance of the model more has been supposed to be years without becoming true, but for what it is worth, there are whispers that the S26 Edge could replace the S26 + next year. If this can pass, the new 50MP sensor could be used only by the basic model S26.
Whatever the way things take place on the entire S26 range, the point to remember is that Samsung will most likely replace the ISOCELL GN3 sensor for at least the basic S26 model. Time will tell us. Samsung should announce the flagship program of 2026 at the start of next year, but more details are required to surface in the meantime.
