Samsung slashes Galaxy S24 price in major new promotion

After Apple launched a new discount offer this week, Samsung joined in with a major sale of its own.

Samsung has closed numerous deals this year as it fights to attract more people into its ecosystem. Whether that’s giving away free Galaxy phones with TV purchases or offering free storage upgrades for the Galaxy S24. But the latest sale, which affects almost every phone released this year, is the biggest yet.

The sale offers between 22% and 38% off select Galaxy phones and lasts until June 4. The problem is that the promotion only applies to UK buyers. If you’re a US buyer, Samsung’s free storage upgrade offer is currently in effect, along with improved trade-in pricing.

As it stands, Samsung has discounted the following devices.

• Samsung Galaxy S24 | from £799 ($1,018.09) to £499 ($635.83) (37% off)
• Samsung Galaxy S24+ | from £999 ($1,272.92) to £699 ($890.67) (30% off)
• Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra | from £1,249 ($1,591.47) to £949 ($1,209.21) (24% off)
• Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 | from £1,749 ($2,228.57) to £1,349 ($1,718.89) (22% off)
• Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 | from £1,049 ($1,336.63) to £649 ($826.96) (38% off)
• Samsung Galaxy A55 | from £439 ($559.37) to £289 ($368.24) (34% off)
• Samsung Galaxy A35 | from £339 ($431.95) to £239 ($304.53) (29% off)
• Samsung Galaxy A25 | from £249 ($317.28) to £169 ($215.34) (32% off)

These are huge discounts, especially for the Galaxy S24 phones which only launched in January. Smartphone manufacturers tend to sell off their existing stocks to make room for a new phone. Considering Samsung is gearing up for its summer Galaxy Unpacked event in Paris on July 10, where it will likely launch the Galaxy Z Fold 6, this could explain these sudden and deep price drops.

Are these offers worth it?

There are a few additional factors that should be considered before pulling the trigger on one of these deals. First things first, which phones have Samsung’s new Galaxy AI toolset? Only the A series (A55, A35, A25) do not have the latest AI software from the Korean company. This may or may not change in the future, given that Samsung has added some AI features to older Galaxy phones over the past few months. But the company remains discreet about its projects for the moment.

The Galaxy S24 deals seem the most impressive to me, especially if you have an older phone to trade in, which can cost up to £395 off the final price. The Samsung Shop app also offers a long-standing 5% discount for all first-time buyers if the code “APP5” is used.

It’s also worth pointing out that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will be released this summer, so if you want the latest version of Samsung’s foldable phone, hold on. The company will almost certainly reveal a pre-order offer alongside the device, so stay tuned for that.
