Samsung One UI 6.1.1 update arrives on these Galaxy devices

Samsung has confirmed that One UI 6.1.1, the software launched on Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6, will soon be available on select Galaxy devices with a handful of new features.

Since launching One UI 6.0 on top of Android 14 last year, Samsung has also launched One UI 6.1, an AI-focused update that has been widely rolled out. But, as is the company’s way, there’s still one more update coming to Android 14.

Which Galaxy devices will get One UI 6.1.1?

Samsung has confirmed via its forums (frequent tipster Tarun Vats shared a screenshot of the confirmation, but chose not to share a link) that virtually all of its flagship devices launching from 2022 onwards will receive One UI 6.1.1.

The list includes:

  • Galaxy S22/+/Ultra
  • Galaxy Z Fold 4
  • Galaxy Z Flip 4
  • Galaxy Tab S8 Series
  • Galaxy S23/+/Ultra
  • Galaxy Z Fold 5
  • Galaxy Z Flip 5
  • Galaxy S23 FE
  • Galaxy Tab S9 Series
  • Galaxy S24/+/Ultra

Compared to the One UI 6.1 launch earlier this year, the list of devices confirmed outright is longer, but Samsung has expanded the update (and AI features) well beyond its initial announcement. Therefore, we wouldn’t discount the Galaxy S21 series or the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 just yet. It’s also very likely that this list only refers to devices getting new AI features, and that many other Galaxy devices will get One UI 6.1.1 in general.

But what’s actually new in this update?

What are the new features in One UI 6.1.1?

One UI 6.1.1 comes to the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, and it’s a pretty small update overall. There are a few new AI features, as well as a larger watermark for AI creations and a few new features.

In a post, Samsung confirms what new features will arrive in One UI 6.1.1.

First, these features include new AI functions. “Portrait Studio” can turn photos of a person into cartoons and sketches, while “Sketch to Image” can turn a hand-drawn sketch into an AI-generated image, or even add it to an existing image. “Live Effect” can also turn a 2D image into a 3D image.

In “Editor,” Samsung adds support for “Motion Clipper” which can turn an animated photo into a GIF when you long-press the image, while “Cut” can crop the photo via a long press.

In translation features, Samsung now supports an overlay with translation features for text or images.

One UI 6.1.1 will also bring Expert RAW support to the Galaxy Z Flip 6 (the first Flip to do so) and Expert RAW will feature image quality improvements for brightness, noise, and more.

Some of these features are only available on certain devices, but the majority are available on the Galaxy Z Fold 4/Flip 4 series, Z Fold 5/Flip 5 series, Galaxy S22/S23/S24 series, Galaxy S23 FE series, and Galaxy Tab S8/S9 series.

When will One UI 6.1.1 be available?

As for when this new update will roll out, there’s no specific timeline yet. As mentioned, it’s available out of the box on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6, but we suspect it might be a month or two before it starts rolling out more widely.

For context, Samsung announced the One UI 6.1 update for devices like the Galaxy S23 in mid-February, but the update wasn’t widely available until April.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 are available for pre-order now with up to $1,200 in trade-in value, free double storage, and other perks. You can also get an additional offer of up to $150 with our Galaxy Z Fold 6 link on Samsung.com.

Samsung will begin shipping its new foldables along with the Galaxy Ring, Galaxy Buds 3 (and Buds 3 Pro), Galaxy Watch 7, and Galaxy Watch Ultra on July 24.
