In addition to its next-generation QD-OLED TV panel and an innovative 18.1-inch foldable display for laptops, Samsung Display announced several futuristic sliding OLED panels at CES 2025. These panels are designed for laptops, smartphones and tablets with innovative form factors. .
Sliding Flex Duet, Sliding Flex Solo and Sliding Vertical Flex
Samsung Display, the display manufacturing arm of Samsung Electronics, demonstrated three types of sliding OLED display prototypes: Slidable Flex Duet, Slidable Flex Solo and Slidable Flex Vertical.
The Slidable Flex Duet is an 8.1-inch OLED panel that can open on both sides (left and right) to transform into a 12.4-inch display. It can be used in a mini size tablet (similar to the size of Galaxy Tab A8) which can transform into a large screen tablet (same as the size of Galaxy Tab S9+).
The Slideable Flex Solo is a 13-inch OLED panel that opens on one side to become a 17.3-inch display. It can be used in a 13-inch laptop whose screen expands to provide more screen real estate, allowing you to use multiple windows or view more content (code, documents, images/videos ).
The Slidable Flex Vertical is a 5.1-inch sliding OLED panel that can expand into a 6.7-inch screen. It can be used to design a phone that scales from a compact form factor to a full-sized smartphone.
The screen maker also showed off a dog-shaped robot called OLEDog. This robot is generally used in Samsung Display’s factory in Vietnam to manage unmanned infrastructure. However, the company reused it to tap and kick OLED panels at its CES 2025 show to demonstrate the durability of these panels.
