Sam Rubin: the father of the family of KTLA

It was obvious that Sam Rubin loved his job as an entertainment anchor at KTLA, but of the many roles he took on over the years, none was more important to him than being a father and husband.

Rubin often brought his birth family and work family together, giving many the opportunity to watch him and his four children grow up on television for decades.

His four children – Rory, Perry, Darcy and Colby – have made numerous appearances on KTLA over the years, being interviewed and occasionally demonstrating their journalistic skills by conducting interviews or offering entertainment analysis themselves.

A proud father, he never hesitated to recognize his children’s accomplishments and milestones on-air, whether they were birthdays, graduations or Eagle Scout ceremonies.

Rubin’s unique ability to effortlessly combine his private and public lives is what has led countless Angelenos to invite him into their homes every morning for more than 30 years.

Almost everyone who came into contact with Rubin – viewers, colleagues and celebrities – shared the same feeling about him: talking to him was never an interview, but always a conversation.
