Sainsbury’s shoppers have been left without online deliveries after the store faced technical issues.

The supermarket chain has confirmed that an IT glitch has led to the cancellation of hundreds of online shopping orders, according to The Sun.

More than 500 shoppers have reportedly had issues with Sainsbury’s online service, according to Downdetector.

Several unhappy shoppers took to X (formerly Twitter) to vent their frustrations after their purchases failed to arrive this morning.

One customer wrote: “Sainsbury’s. My delivery was scheduled between 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. It did not show up, I received no email, and my card was not charged.

“Can you advise us, please?” »

A second chimed in: “Just added myself to the list of customers waiting for delivery and ghosting this morning.

“No order confirmation, no response to DMs, call center hangs up. How does this continue to happen? »

Another added: “Hello, my online order has not arrived. I tried to call customer service but was interrupted. Any advice on how I can find out what happened.

“@sainsburys Apparently my order has been cancelled, but I haven’t received any notification about this and can’t tell anyone about it as my call keeps ending,” one shopper wrote.

In response to one of the complaints, Sainsbury’s social media account said: “I’m sorry for the technical problem.

“We are aware there is an issue and we are working to resolve it as soon as possible. At this stage I will not be able to confirm when your delivery will take place.

A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said: “A small technical issue affected some online grocery orders this morning.

“We have contacted these customers directly to apologize for the inconvenience.”

It comes shortly after Sainsbury’s top boss apologized to customers for an IT crisis that left thousands of shoppers without their groceries in March.

The “technical glitch” created chaos on one of the busiest shopping days of the week – a Sunday.

The grocery chain was canceling online orders and couldn’t accept contactless payments. So buyers had to either use a physical card or pay in cash.

Customers, who were already facing long queues at checkouts, were forced to desperately queue at nearby ATMs, but many ATMs found themselves short of cash due to the dramatic increase withdrawals.

CEO Simon Roberts sent an email to all shoppers confirming that the “affected systems are now back online” and that stores remain open and “fully operational” at this time.

He apologized to “every customer” affected by the March IT outage and revealed that any shopper whose online order was not delivered will receive a voucher in the coming days to compensate for the “inconvenience” .

During the retailer’s previous IT crisis, Sainsbury’s confirmed it would contact all customers affected by the problem.

If your technical issue is not resolved, you can contact Sainsbury’s by calling 0800 328 1700.
