The navies announced this afternoon that they had appointed right-hander Cody Bolton For assignment. Bolton’s 40 -year alignment place will go right -hander Jesse Hahnwhose contract has been selected from the minors. Left -handed Tayler saucedo was optionized in Triple-A to make room for the addition of Hahn to the active list.
Bolton, 27 years old in June, was a sixth round choice by the pirates in 2017 and made its debut in the big league with Pittsburgh in 2023. This first passage in the majors did not go particularly well, because the law posted a walking rate of 6.33 dull (72 ERA +) with a rate of 20.6% against a 14% working rate in 21 1/3 work. While he better launched in Triple-A Indianapolis, with an MPM of 3.86 and a more reasonable walking rate of 9.2%, it was still not to convince the club to keep Bolton on their list of 40 men throughout the winter; At the beginning of November, the club exchanged Bolton in Mariners in a cash contract.
Bolton’s time in Seattle went better than his time to Pittsburgh, but has always left something to be desired. The right-hander launched impressively for Triple-A Tacoma navy, with an MPM of 3.07 in 29 1/3 work sleeves which was made all the more impressive by the swollen offensive environment of the Pacific Coast League. As strong as this work was, however, the law has always displayed an MPM of 4.34 lower than the average (85 ERA +) with a withdrawal rate of 20.5% and a walking rate of 10.8% which largely recalled its time with hackers. While Bolton stayed with the navy on the list of 40 men throughout the offseason, a difficult start in the countryside in 2025 in Triple-A where he gave three points in two work sleeves was obviously enough for Seattle to pull the plug. The club will now have a week to exchange Bolton or try to go through exemptions. If he has successfully deleted the derogations, the navies can say it in minor leagues as an unbeaned depth option in the future.
The departure of Bolton makes room for Hahn, whose beginnings with the Navy will be his first appearance of the MLB since 2021. A sixth round written by the Rays in 2010, the 35 -year -old launcher made his debut with the Padres in 2014 and had an impressive recruit campaign where he posted an era of 3.07 in 73 1/3 widespread between 12 departures and a pair of discharges. Its 10.5% walking rate was a little high, but it largely compensated with a solid withdrawal rate of 22.9% to display solid results in accordance with those expected from a starter No. 4.
Hahn was included by the Padres in a business off -season with the A who sent a recipient Derek Norris In San Diego, and its first year in Oakland saw the right to continue to fulfill the role of a potential arm of the rotation rotation with an MPM of 3.35 and 3.51 FIP in 16 departures. Unfortunately, a large part of the 2015 Hahn season was wiped out by an injury to flexor tendons, and when he returned to the mound in 2016, he no longer looked like the same launcher. The right -hander posted an era of 5.59 dull in 116 work sleeves for the A during the following two seasons before being exchanged once again, this time to the Royals in a business that brought the lift Ryan Buchter.
Hahn did not appear in the majors of the Royals before 2019 due to an UCL injury which ultimately required surgery, and when he returned late in the 2019 season, he was a lift. The right -hander ultimately only made 29 appearances for the Royals during three seasons, with an MPM of 4.62 (105 ERA +) and a FIP of 4.81 in 25 1/3 working sleeves. Hahn struck the injured list due to shoulder problems in 2021 and has not yet launched professionally at any level before 2024, when he hung on the Dodgers in a minor league agreement. He launched 51 1/3 solid rounds for Dodgers and Mariners in Triple-A since then, and now seems ready to return to the majors. He was released from his minor league agreement with Seattle just a few weeks ago before the opening day, but he was obviously signed with the club on a new minor league agreement since then.
Saucedo, which served as a place in Hahn on the active list, served as a solid average relief option for Seattle in each of the last two seasons with an MPM of 3.54 and 3.79 FIP in 86 1/3 work sleeves on 105 outings. Things have not gone well for the Southpaw so far this year, however, with four authorized points and more walks than stick withdrawals during its first three appearances. He will go to Tacoma to serve as an optional depth for the navy at the moment when he is waiting for his next great league opportunity.
