The Comtée de Marin supervisors unanimously adopted a resolution authorizing an investment of $ 500,000 to the safeguard of immigrant communities.
The action of March 4 authorizes the county of the county to allocate funds to strengthen the education and assistance of legal rights, support services for children and family and other support services coordinated to immigrant communities through sailor.
Recent federal actions, including policy changes and immigration raids, have caused general fear and trauma, the county said in a press release. Immigrant communities are faced with critical challenges with their security, their livelihoods and access to essential services, according to officials.
“As a county, we are responsible for ensuring that each resident, whatever their immigration status, feels safe, supported and appreciated,” said Mary Sackett, president of the County Board of Supervisors. “This investment in immigrant support services does not only concern funding – it is a question of reaffirming our values and ensuring that people in our community have access to the aid they need.”
