Saif and family expected to recount horrific knife attack: Sanjay Nirupam

Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam has defended his comments on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan’s ‘speedy’ recovery after a knife attack at his Bandra residence, urging the actor’s family to clarify the events surrounding the incident.

Nirupam’s remarks come after Saif was discharged from Lilavati Hospital just five days after suffering serious injuries, including to his spine and neck, in an attempted burglary at his 12th floor apartment in the high-end building “Satguru Sharan”.

Speaking to IANS, Nirupam said, “What happened to Saif Ali Khan on January 16 is deeply worrying. While we respect the family, it’s surprising to see Saif looking fit enough to shoot just days after being released. Doctors had said the knife had penetrated up to 2.5 inches into his back, requiring a six-hour operation. How is such a rapid recovery medically possible?

He added that Saif’s rapid recovery raises questions about the initial severity of the injuries described by doctors and witnesses. Nirupam demanded that the family and medical team provide clarification on the “horrific” stabbing attack.

“When Saif was attacked, it became a law and order issue in Mumbai. Opposition leaders accused the government and the interior minister of failing. In such a situation, the family must explain what happened,” said Nirupam.

Nirupam also commented on the accused, Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, a Bangladeshi national arrested by the Mumbai Police. He called for strict action against these individuals, citing the involvement of Bangladeshis in criminal activities in the city.

Mumbai Police arrested the accused, a 30-year-old Bangladeshi national, from Thane city. The intruder allegedly stabbed Saif several times during a fight, fleeing and hiding in the building’s garden for two hours before fleeing.

“The police will have to be given the benefit of the doubt, because when an incident of this type occurs, a major incident occurs, there is then a lot of pressure on the police, and when we feel from all sides that the public order was respected. collapsed,” he said.

“I don’t think it is right to immediately doubt the capacity of the Mumbai Police as it is sufficient to solve any kind of criminal incident,” Nirupam said.

The 54-year-old actor, who underwent neurosurgery and plastic surgery, was advised complete bed rest for a week and asked to avoid visitors to avoid infection. Despite his injuries, Saif left the hospital without a wheelchair, escorted by heavy police security officers.

Meanwhile, Saif returned home to Bandra amid tight security. The actor has been advised to focus on his recovery while the investigation continues.
