Sabrina Carpenter responds to troll after dominating charts

Don’t doubt Sabrina Carpenter.

On Monday, the singer reached the top of the Billboard Charted Hot 100 with “Please Please Please,” and she posted a photo of the announcement, alongside a not-so-nice comment she’d received about the song. She obscured the face and did not show the name of the person who wrote: “I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone fumble a second single so hard. My goodness.”

Carpenter captioned it “ohhhh” with four crying emojis. “I am a grateful and grateful girl.”

Carpenter has good reason to be proud of her achievement. Her song did even better than her last single, “Espresso,” which hit No. 3 on the Hot 100 and still ranks fourth this week. And “Please Please Please” is his first chart-topping song. She has released five albums since 2015, and her Short and sweetwhich includes both “Espresso” and “Please Please Please,” comes out August 23.

“Please Please Please” is special to Carpenter for at least one reason more than its chart position: Her true love, actor Barry Keoghan, stars in the video.

“I’m literally boring,” she said with a laugh. “I never had a plan B, and I didn’t even think it wouldn’t work. I just always knew it wasn’t a matter of if it would happen, but when it would happen.”
