Sabrina Carpenter won the 2025 first Grammy Award, winning the best solo pop performance for her percolating summer anthem, Espresso.
British star Charli XCX also won a precocious prize cover – including the best dance / pop album for her album Razor Sharp Club Brat; And the best dance / pop song for its main single von Dutch. These are the first grammys of the star as a solo act.
The prices are awarded to the “Premiere Ceremony” of the Grammys, which precedes the main event at 5 p.m. in Los Angeles / 1 a.m.
The show started with an interpretation of the stars of the Simon & Garfunkel bridge on the troubled water, dedicated to the victims of the Los Angeles forest fires.
Yolanda Adams and Angelique Kidjo were among the artists interpreting a raw version and infused with the Gospel of the Classic of the 60s, dedicated to the first stakeholders who risked their lives to attack hell and protect the vulnerable.
The CEO of Grammys, Harvey Mason Jr, told The Crypto.com Arena that prices “would honor the great power of music to inspire, heal and unite”.
He added: “Due to recent fires that have devastated Los Angeles, we will also recognize the resilience of our community and celebrate our first stakeholders and do our best to raise this city that we love.”
Beyoncé is the main nominated during this year’s ceremony, with her adjacent Country CoWboy Carter album selected for 11 prizes.
She has already won the best country performance by a duo or a group, for his duet with Miley Cyrus, the most sought after.
However, she was beaten in the best country song by Kacey Musgraves, whose architect calls into question the existence of God after a school shoot.
Going on stage, Musgraves said: “There is so much darkness in the world at the moment, and it’s so good to be able to fight part of this darkness through the song”.
Musgraves previously won the album of the year in 2019 for Golden Hour.
The nominees for this award this year include Billie Eilish, Beyoncé (who has never won the category, despite four previous nominations) Taylor Swift, Chappell Roan and rapper André 3000, who is nominated for his spiritual jazz flute album Blue Sun.
Charli XCX and Sabrina Carpenter are also ready for the best album – and the fans will speculate if their first victories increase their chances of winning the biggest prix of the evening.
None of the two artists was there in person to recover his initial trophies, because they should occur during the head ceremony later in the evening.
However, Charli’s producer, Finn Keane, accepted the Prix de Von Dutch on his behalf, calling it “incredible collaborator”.
“She has been doing this kind of music for 10 years, but everyone has just caught up,” he added.
