Frisco, Texas – The cowboys continue to add depth to the offensive line, accepting the conditions of a one year agreement with the guardian of the offensive Saahdiq Charles on Wednesday.
Charles, 25, signed a one -year agreement with Tennessee titans in March 2024, but retired unexpectedly a few days after the start of the training camp for personal reasons. On March 12, he announced that he would leave his retirement, and the Titans released him to be a free agent once he was reinstated.
Before retiring, Charles was to be the right -wing right -of -right goalkeeper for Tennessee, one of the two places he most aligned during his first four seasons of the NFL with Washington commanders. Washington drafted it in the fourth round of the NFL 2020 draft of LSU.
During these four seasons with the commanders, Charles played in 35 games, taking pictures at the same time on the left and right, but took the north of 300 more shots on the left side of the offensive line. It was a kick inside from the left tackle, his main position in college.
Injuries were a limiting factor for Charles in the first stadiums of his career, as a dislocated ball joint placed him in the injured reserve in his first NFL match during his recruit season and spent more time on IR during the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
During his collegial days in LSU, Charles was the left tackle of the 2019 LSU National LSU championship team, considered one of the best teams in the history of university football. During his last year with the Tigers, Charles started the last nine games in the left tackle.
Charles is the second addition of an external free agent for Dallas on the offensive line, joining the veteran Robert Jones who should also compete for the open position of the offensive guard left by Zack Martin.
In his return to the League, Charles and the Cowboys hope to continue to develop his skills in the guard position and hope to keep him healthy, a frame of 6’4 and 320 pounds being a good starting point with the continuous development for the position.
