Did Ryan Reynolds throw some pointed digs at Justin Baldoni in Deadpool and Wolverine? Fans seem to think so.
These theories come amid a lawsuit between Baldoni and Reynolds’ wife, Blake Lively, who accused Baldoni of harassment during the filming of It ends with us.
One eyebrow-raising scene shows Deadpool (Reynolds) interacting with Nicepool, a bun-wearing variant of Deadpool also played by Reynolds. Nicepool makes a comment about “Ladypool” (played by Lively), saying, “Oh my God, wait until you see Ladypool.” She is magnificent. She just had a baby too and (you) can’t even tell.
When Deadpool scolds him, Nicepool jokes, “It’s okay.” I identify as a feminist.
The scene sparked speculation due to Baldoni’s well-known feminist advocacy. He’s given a TED talk on masculinity and written articles about being a feminist father. Additionally, Baldoni also sported a bun for a few years.
Another moment that sparked conversation involved Emma Corrin’s Cassandra Nova using her powers to probe Deadpool’s mind. As she invades his memories, Deadpool shouts, “And, in God’s name, where’s the intimacy coordinator?”
That phrase struck fans as a potential nod to Lively’s lawsuit, which alleges Baldoni improvised physical intimacy without the involvement of an intimacy coordinator. Baldoni, meanwhile, claimed that Lively refused to meet with the coordinator.
Given that the film was written by Reynolds and completed shortly after tensions between the couple and Baldoni escalated, fans believe Nicepoolo’s resemblance to Baldoni cannot be a coincidence.
