Caledon, Ontario – Ryan Fox of New Zealand won for the second time in five weeks on the PGA Tour with another memorable shot in the playoffs, this time a wood of 3 to 7 feet on the fourth additional hole on Sunday to beat Sam Burns in the Canadian RBC Open.

Fox won the Myrtle Beach Classic last month by Chipping for Birdie to win a playoff series of three. This on TPC Toronto in Osprey Valley took a little more time.

What turned out to be the winning shot could be more memorable. Fox smoked a 3 wood which lands gently just to the left of the spindle and settled 7 feet away. Burns pulled his 3 wood at about 55 feet to the left of the right front spindle. He ran his eagle putt at 8 feet and missed this one.

Fox missed his eagle test before hitting the Birdie.

“To be honest, Sam and I had a little pillow fight for three holes,” said Fox. “But this blow that I struck over 18 years old, this 3 wood was probably the best blow I never touched. It was good to do the putt. But hey, I’m going to take it.”

Fox put on a bit bit of just inside 18 feet on the 18th par-5 in regulation for a 4-mine of 66 which allowed him to join Sam Burns at 18 years old.

They played the 18th again four times – the PGA Tour moved the position of the spindle from very left to the front just after two additional holes – and there was nothing convincing in the additional holes.

Burns, considered one of the best putters in the PGA Tour, had a Birdie putt of just over 5 feet in the first playoff series for the victory. He left this to the right. Next time down 18 years old, Fox went to get green and pushed his 3 wood. The Col de Rugueux prevented him from going into the water. He launched 12 feet and had this Birdie putt for the victory, but left him in a short foot.

Pillow fight, indeed.

The third time, playing the 18th in overtime, Burns had a corner of lob which was short and on the right, turning green and almost in the water. Fox struck his 40 feet on the right. They both did it out.

Fox delivered the goods to the final hole and now has two victories in just over a month. The victory passed the 38 -year -old fox from n ° 75 to n ° 32 in the world, taking him to the US Open next week to be among the first 60 in the world ranking.

Kevin Yu sorted in the last hole for a 66 to finish alone in third, a shot outside the playoffs. He brought the top 60 little to go to Oakmont next week. But Yu joined Cameron Young and Matt McCarty to win the first three places for Open next month for players who are not already eligible.

PGA: RBC Canadian Open - final round

Here’s how the $ 9.8 million handbag will be paid to the RBC Canadian Open.

Fox was already outdoors of his victory in the BMW PGA championship in 2023, the flagship event of the European tour. Fox now has eight victories around the world – two on the PGA Tour, four on the European tour and two on the PGA Tour d’Australasie.

Burns hoped to finish more than two years without a victory, his last title to come in the last year of the world golf champion game game in 2023.

Young drew a 65 to equalize for fourth. He was within reach of Burns when Young made an incredible peer on the 17th, ranging from trees to the right to the left mutilated to the left, putting at 15 feet and by putting.

But needing to need for the fence hole by 5 to catch Burns, the leader of the clubhouse at the time, Young rinsed a wood in the breeze and on the green in the trees, leaving it practically no blow. It took two to get on the green and he made Bogey to finish two strokes behind.

“I could not have hit two best shots on the last hole. I do not hit 3-bois so far, and he blows directly in the wind, and he decided to bounce back to the rear wood,” said Young. “I thought that in the air, I was going to have about 12 feet to win the tournament, and it ended up hurting peer, even less to make a 4.”
