Russia beat Ukraine overnight with its greatest drone attack since the start of the war, the army of Ukraine announced on Sunday, while Moscow intensified its military assault despite direct peace talks with Kyiv on Friday.
Russia launched 273 Shahed drones overnight, said Ukrainian Air Force, mainly targeting the kyiv central region.
A 28 -year -old woman was killed and three others, including a four -year -old child, were injured, according to Mykola Kalashnik, governor of the kyiv region.
Ruslan Stefanchuk, the head of the Parliament of Ukraine, said on Sunday in an article on social networks: “The alarm of the air raids lasted almost nine hours. This is what Putin’s “sincere desire for peace” looks like.
The attack destroyed the residential buildings, damaged a skyscraper and set fire to garages, wrote Stefanchuk, adding: “It is terror in its purest form.”

Elsewhere, the Russian bombings killed a person and injured eight in the Donetsk region on Saturday, according to the regional military administration of Donetsk, Vadym Filashkin. Russian drones have also targeted the regions of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia, regional military chiefs said.
Meanwhile, Russian forces have shot down 75 Ukrainian drones in the past 24 hours, a Russian news agency reported on Sunday, citing the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The latest assault comes after a Russian drone attack on a bus in the northeast region of Sumy in Ukraine killed at least nine people and injured seven Saturday, just a few hours after the two countries met for the first direct peace talks since the first weeks of the Invasion of Russia in 2022.
Negotiations in Türkiye have not produced a major breakthrough. The two countries discussed a possible meeting between their presidents, a cease-fire and agreed with an exchange of prisoners.
The talks have crowned back and forth days: Russian president Vladimir Putin called for the face to face meeting but did not attend himself, rather sending a junior delegation after rejecting Ukraine’s proposal for a 30-day ceasefire.
During the talks, Russia asked Ukraine Cede Land who was still under the control of kyiv, a familiar source told CNN on Friday negotiations. The leaders of the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Poland called the position of Russia in “unacceptable” talks.
