Emergency and rescue operations are underway, involving more than 460 rescuers, security forces and public services workers. Research dogs trained in the state emergency service help and nearly 100 equipment units are in service.

According to the regional military administration (OVA), a three -day period of mourning was declared in the Poltava region from February 2 to 4 to honor people killed in the Russian attack.
(Update at 2:35 p.m.):: The regional military administration of Sumy reported the death of three police officers in the Sumy region due to a Russian attack on February 1. President Zelensky had previously confirmed two deaths in the region.
The OVA report details that two patrol officers in service in the territorial community of Yunakivska were killed in a Russian air strike. The body of a third officer was later found under the rubble.

The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned what he called an “absolutely deliberate attack by the Russian terrorists”, saying that it was lucky that it had no death.

Zelensky reported additional damage to Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Sumy, Kharkiv, Khmelnytsky and kyiv regions. He said each attack highlighted Ukraine’s urgent need for more air defense systems to counter “Russian terror”.
“Each air defense system, each anti-missile is a rescue buoy,” said Zelensky, urging Ukraine’s partners to respect commitments and increase pressure on Russia.
On February 1, Russian forces launched a massive attack of missiles and drones against Ukraine, striking residential areas and infrastructure in the Poltava, Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia regions, Ukrainian officials reported.
The assault started in the evening of January 31 with drone attacks, followed by missile strikes in the morning. Around 5:30 a.m., an air alert was declared in eastern Ukraine due to the threat of ballistic missiles, later nationwide at 7:00 a.m., the air alarm lasted up to 9 H 12
Mortal Strike on Poltava
At 7:07 am, explosions were reported in Poltava, the regional military administration confirming damage to energy infrastructure in the Myrhorod district, leaving 164 households and a company without electricity.
A second explosion occurred at 7:44 a.m., hitting a residential building. According to the state emergency service, a Russian missile struck a five -story building, destroying an entire entrance to the first on the fifth floor and triggering a fire.
Three people were killed, including a child and ten others were injured. Emergency services saved 21 people while neighboring buildings and 12 cars were also damaged.
Kharkiv under fire
Russian forces have also targeted Kharkiv and its surroundings with missiles. At 7:30 am, the regional governor Oleh Synehubov confirmed several strikes in the districts of Kharkivsky and Beestynsky.
In the Kholodnohirsky of Kharkiv district, the missiles struck a residential area, causing a fire, according to Mayor Ihor Terekhov. Later, Synehubov reported that a woman in sixties had been killed. At 8:40 a.m., five people were reported injured.
Zaporizhzhia faces a drone dam
Shortly after midnight on February 1, the Russian army launched 18 drones in Zaporizhzhia in one of the largest attacks against the city, according to local authorities and the state emergency service.
The strikes triggered fires in several districts, damaging an infrastructure installation, a several floor building and several private houses. Educational establishments, cars and garages have also been assigned.
A 57 -year -old man was injured but refused hospitalization.
A Russian missile strike struck Central Odesa in the evening of January 31, injuring at least seven people, including two women and a child, and damaging historic buildings, officials said.
