According to the defense of Romanian Romanian resources, citing the Ukrainian channels, the latest attack on Russia against Ukraine presented a new form of more complex aerial assault.

In addition to well-known drones, this operation also involved strategic bombers TU-22M3 and TU-22MS, combined with the last fighter of Russia, the SU-57, signaling a potential change in the Russian air strike strategy.
The Russian media confirmed that during the night and morning, the Russian armed forces had led a massive strike of drones and missiles targeting positions in territories controlled by Ukraine. Sources indicate that six strategic Tu-95 ms bombers, four long-range TU-22M3 bombers and several SU-57 fighter planes were in the air.
“Russian sources have cited Ukrainian surveillance channels pointing that six strategic bombers TU-95 MS, four long-range Bombers TU-22M3 and several SU-57 fighter planes were in the air”, “ The Romanian point of sale writes in his comment.
The combination of various air platforms in this operation seems to demonstrate coordination and planning advanced by Russian forces. While strategic drones and bombers have long been an integral part of Russia’s tactical operations in the conflict, the inclusion of the SU-57, still in its test phase for combat missions with several roles, highlights the ‘Strategic importance of modernizing Russia’s air capacities.
This approach underlines the use by Russia of advanced technology to intensify atmospheric pressure on Ukraine, while simultaneously testing new platforms in real combat conditions. It also raises questions about the future of Russian air doctrine and the potential of the SU-57 to move the regional power dynamics.
The recent multiplatform air strike of Russia against Ukraine, involving TU-95MS bombers, TU-22M3 bombers and SU-57 stealth fighters, represents a highly calculated and efficient tactical operation. The Tu-95ms bombers, with their long-term striking capacity and their heavy useful charges, were probably responsible for targeting critical infrastructure at the bottom of Ukraine.
These bombers, despite their age, are invaluable because of their ability to deliver guided ammunition by precision of the interviewed distances, well out of reach of most Ukrainian air defense systems. This allows them to avoid direct engagement with enemy interceptors while inflicting significant damage on high value targets.
TU-22M3 bombers, known for their speed and high-altitude performance, have probably played a complementary role. Their supersonic capacities allow them to penetrate the aerial defenses at a rapid rate, which makes it more difficult for missiles or air surface interceptors of Ukraine to engage them effectively.
The ability of the TU-22M3 to quickly release the useful charges, while going beyond threats, helps to saturate the defense network of Ukraine and to disturb their ability to respond to several waves of attacks in a short period of time.
SU-57 stealth fighters are a key element in the success of the attack. As a fifth generation Air with advanced radar escape technology, the SU-57 is designed to operate in highly contested environments. Its presence in this multiplatform strike allows Russia to target the most critical radar installations in Ukraine, air defense batteries and command centers with a minimum risk of interception.
The low observability of the SU-57 makes it a strategic tool to penetrate the Ukrainian defenses and make precision strikes against high priority targets. In addition, its electronic warfare capacities have probably played an important role in the scrambling of Ukrainian radar systems, the disturbance of communications and the reduction in the efficiency of their air defenses.
The operational significance of this combined attack lies in its ability to exploit the entire spectrum of available assets. Using a mixture of platforms, Russia can overwhelm Ukrainian defenses on several fronts – high -speed bombers capable of escaping the radar, long -range bombers delivering heavy strikes and stealth aircraft that minimize detection.
This integrated approach forces Ukraine to divide its defensive efforts, stretching its thin air defense systems and preventing an effective counter-response. In the end, the combination of these types of aircraft offers Russia flexibility, redundancy and a high probability of achieving their strategic objectives while minimizing the risk for their own forces.
During the night of February 1, 2025, Russian military forces launched a coordinated multi -faceted attack against Ukrainian military and energy infrastructure, reporting a continuous escalation of Russia’s air and missile capacities in the conflict.
According to Ukrainian relationships, the assault began with a wave of Shahed-2 drones (similar to Iranian Shahed-136) targeting several regions, including kyiv. The initial strikes were followed by missile attacks aimed at key locations in the Ukrainian capital.
Over the night, more explosions have been reported on Ukrainian territory. Around 3 a.m., a strike struck the only gas treatment plant in Shebelynka, Kharkiv Oblast, followed by explosions in Poltava, Balakliya and Kharkiv, as well as in Starokonstantinov aerodrome in the Khmelnytskyi region.
In the morning, around 8 a.m., repeated explosion reports in Poltava indicated power outages in certain parts of the region, the Mirgorod aerodrome also targeted.
The attacks intensified when new explosions were heard in Kharkiv and Balakliya, with continuous strikes on Starokonstantinov aerodrome. In particular, Starokonstantinov was affected by Geran-2 drones, highlighting the continuous use by Russia of low-cost and high-efficiency drones in these operations.
The strike was compared to that made earlier in January, Russian experts noting similarities in the deployment of advanced technology.
Once again, the fifth generation fighters of the Su-57 played a key role in the neutralization of Ukrainian air defense systems, suggesting that Russia is based not only on attacks and massage of missiles, But also to take advantage of advanced planes to achieve air superiority.
In a statement published on Telegram, the Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russia had launched a combined strike using various air and ground missiles, as well as Shahed drones and other drone variants. The Ukrainian forces responded with a defense in layers, involving anti -aircraft units, electronic war systems and mobile shooting groups.
The Ukrainian armed forces have confirmed the continuous targeting of energy infrastructure, with strikes striking energy and industrial sites through Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Sumy, Kharkiv, Khmelnytskyi and Kyiv. Preliminary reports suggest that 56 Shahed drones and other UAVs have been slaughtered, 61 others apparently lost on the path of their targets.
Some of Russia’s cruise missiles have also been destroyed by Ukrainian air defenses, although reports are not clear to find out if the KH-59 / KH-69 cruise missiles launched by SU-57 fighters were intercepted Before achieving their goals.
In total, Russia used a combination of seven ballistic missiles Iskander-M, seven ISKANDER-K cruise missiles, KH-101 / KH-55 cruise missiles from Tu-95ms bombers, ten KH-59 / KH -69 guided missiles launched in the air, two KH-31P air-surface missiles and 123 drones. There is no intercepted KH-59 / KH-69 missiles, which are the main ammunition of the SU-57 in this war.
2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine
On February 21, 2022, Russia said that its border facilities had been attacked by Ukrainian forces, leading to the death of five Ukrainian fighters. However, Ukraine quickly rejected these allegations, describing them as ‘False flags’.
In a notable decision on the same day, Russia announced that it had officially recognized the self -proclaimed areas of DPR and LPR. Interestingly, according to Russian President Putin, this recognition has covered all Ukrainian regions. Following this declaration, Putin sent a battalion of the military forces of Russia, the tanks included, in these regions.
Quick advance until February 24, 2022, the world titles were dominated by an important incident. Putin ordered an energetic military assault against Ukraine. Directed by the impressive armed forces of Russia positioned on the Ukrainian border, this aggression was not spontaneous but a premeditated action. Despite the circumstances resembling a war, the Russian government refrains from using this term. They prefer to refer to it as a “Special military functioning”.
