Moscow (Reuters) – Russia has agreed to help the administration of American president Donald Trump in communication with Iran on various issues, in particular on the Tehran nuclear program and its support for regional anti -US proxies, Bloomberg reported on Tuesday.
The report, which was taken up by the Russian state media, quoted the spokesperson for Kremlin, Dmitry Peskov, saying that “Russia thinks that the United States and Iran should solve all problems through negotiations” and that Moscow “is ready to do everything in its power to achieve it”.
Last month, Trump restored his campaign to “maximum pressure” on Iran, which includes efforts to bring back his oil exports to zero in order to prevent Tehran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. Iran denies such an intention.
Russia has deepened its links with the Islamic Republic since the start of the Ukraine War and has signed a Treaty of Strategic Cooperation with Iran in January.
