Russell Westbrook gets into heated X-rated exchange with heckling Hornets fan ‘shaming’ his family name

Russell Westbrook doesn’t take kindly to hecklers.

On Sunday, the former MVP got into a heated altercation with an opposing fan when the Los Angeles Clippers took on the Charlotte Hornets and came away with a 130-118 road victory.

Before the tip-off, Russ confronted the fan and exchanged words with him after the fan allegedly called him “Russell Westbrick.”

Viral footage showed the Clippers star leaning over the front row of seats during warmups and walking back and forth with the fan who was standing several rows back and had a ball on his head.

“I have kids. Don’t disrespect my name. Do you understand me? I don’t care,” Westbrook reportedly told the fan.

“Westbrick” is a nickname that has been thrown at Westbrook many times over the years and he has previously stated that he will no longer stand for it.

NBA analyst Skip Bayless previously called Westbrook “Westbrick” and the former Oklahoma City Thunder player responded online.

“Yoooo…watch what you say. Don’t say anything on here that you wouldn’t say to my face,” Westbrook posted in response to Bayless’ insult.

At the time, Russell’s wife, Nina, also fired back against Bayless.

“You need to stop calling people by their name,” she wrote.

“You are very disrespectful and a bully. That’s why so many young people think it’s okay to have this type of behavior. Social media has become such a hateful place because of people like you. I m ‘call Westbrook.’

“I 100% support my wife and how she feels,” Westbrook told the media.

“When it comes to basketball, criticism about missed shots and shooting doesn’t bother me. But as soon as my name is humiliated, it becomes a problem.”

“Westbrick” for example, for me, is now a shame. … This brings shame to my name, to my legacy for my children. It’s a name that means not only to me, but also to my wife, my mother, my father, those who paved the way for me.”

This isn’t the first time Westbrook has lashed out at fans, either.

In February, the point guard got into an argument with a Miami Heat fan in the middle of the game.

The fan heckled Westbrook and was eventually kicked out of the arena after arguing with Russ.

He also had a heated exchange in the game with a Denver Nuggets fan earlier this season and had another argument with a Lakers fan in November.

He then said: “It’s a shame that they think they can say anything with impunity. Personally, I won’t allow it.”

Ultimately, Russ had the last laugh on Sunday as the Clippers managed to come away with the victory against the Hornets.

Westbrook, however, had a tough night on an individual level, finishing the game with 11 points, five rebounds, four assists, two steals and three turnovers.

This season, he is averaging 10.9 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists in 22.4 minutes per game, primarily as a bench player.

It’s undoubtedly been a frustrating season for the nine-time All-Star, but at least his Clippers are doing well.

They are fourth in the West with a 47-27 record and are currently on a three-game winning streak heading into the playoffs.
