Prosecutors in Great Britain charged Russell Brand, the actor and actor, multiple chiefs of sexual assault, including two rape chiefs.
On Friday, the country’s crown prosecution service announced the accusations.
Jaswant Narwal, a prosecutor, said in the statement that Mr. Brand, 50, would appear at the Westminster magistrate court in London for a first hearing on May 2.
Narwal added that the accusations “concern non -recent offenses reported between 1999 and 2005, involving four women”.
British police began to investigate Mr. Brand’s past behavior in September 2023, after the Sunday Times, the Times of London and the television network Channel 4 published a joint survey on allegations against him.
Friday, Mr. Brand published a video on social networks in which he denied having committed rape or sexual assault and said that he had “never had non -consensual activity”.
Mr. Brand added that he was grateful that he was able to defend himself in court.
Friday, Metropolitan Police in London described more details on the accusations in a press release. Mr. Brand is accused of having violated a woman in the region of Bournemouth, in the south of England, in 1999; indecent assault to a woman in London in 2001; to violate orally and sexually assaulting a woman in London in 2004; And, between 2004 and 2005, of the sexual assault of a fourth woman in London.
The police press release added: “The MET investigation remains open and the detectives ask anyone who has been assigned by this case, or anyone with information, to present themselves to the police.”
Under British law, it is offense of the infringement for the media to identify people who make allegations of sexual assault unless they choose to give up their right to anonymity.
Mr. Brand became a star in Great Britain in the 2000s thanks to acclaimed stand-up emissions which often concentrated on drugs and sex, and who saw him sell arena dates. He also became known as a television and radio host for broadcasters, including MTV and the BBC. He made a reputation in the United States after playing in films such as “forget Sarah Marshall” and “Get Hui to the Greek” and through a brief marriage to singer Katy Perry.
More recently, Mr. Brand has become well known as a politically loaded youtuber. More than six million users subscribe to his channel where he publishes videos that regularly include the discussion of conspiracy theories and present conservative characters like Tucker Carlson.
In Great Britain, strict rules prevent the declaration of everything that could affect a jury at the trial after the accusation.
