Rudolph Giuliani disbarred after court finds he lied about Trump’s election loss

NEW YORK (AP) — Rudolf GiulianiThe former New York mayor, federal prosecutor and legal adviser to Donald Trump was disbarred from the state bar Tuesday after a court found he repeatedly made false statements about Donald Trump’s 2020 election loss.

The decision was made by a New York appeals court in Manhattan.

The court ruled that Giuliani should be “disbarred from the practice of law, effective immediately and until further order of this court, and that his name be removed from the roll of attorneys and solicitors of the State of New York.”

Giuliani’s spokesman did not immediately respond to an email and phone call seeking comment Tuesday.

Giuliani has already obtained his law license in New York suspended for false statements he made after the election.

He was the main spokesperson for Trump’s false claims of election fraud after the 2020 vote, running for a press conference in front of Four Seasons Total Landscaping outside Philadelphia on the day the race was called for Democrat Joe Biden against Republican Trump and said they would challenge what he claimed was a vast conspiracy by Democrats.

Lies surrounding the election results helped spur an angry mob of pro-Trump rioters to storming the US Capitol on January 6 in an attempt to prevent the certification of Biden’s victory.
