Rotherham vs Birmingham match suspended due to medical emergency in crowd
Rotherham vs Birmingham has been temporarily suspended after a medical emergency in the crowd halted play.
The championship match was stopped by the referee in the ninth minute after a fan fell ill.
After two minutes, both groups of players left the field as the emergency continued to be handled.
Medics rushed to treat the fan, who has since been escorted out of the New York stadium.
And after a short warm-up, the match resumed with 11 minutes on the clock.
Rotherham posted on social media: “The supporter has now left the stadium with medical professionals.
“We would like to thank everyone for their compassion and patience and it goes without saying that all our love and thoughts go out to the victims.
“We ask that supporters’ privacy be respected at this incredibly difficult time.”
