Ross Mathews can’t wait to live “a life of adventure” with her new fiance.

The television personality, author and podcast host announced on Tuesday that he and her boyfriend, Wellington García, have gotten engaged after about a year of dating.

He called García “the smartest, funniest, kindest man I’ve ever met” in a candid Instagram post alongside a photo of the couple showing off their engagement rings. Nodding his head at a slogan that those familiar with his work on “RuPaul’s Drag Race” should recognize, he joked, “Fiancé, you stay!”

Mathews, who also appears on “Live From E!” and is based in Los Angeles, spoke more about the engagement Tuesday on “The Drew Barrymore Show.”

“About a year ago, I met someone who completely changed my life,” he says. “He’s an educator and he’s hilarious and he’s the smartest person I’ve ever met. And you know how Beyoncé says, “If you like her, you should put a ring on her?” Well I did it!

Mathews also acknowledged during the interview that embarking on a bicoastal romance during the COVID-19 pandemic meant having to overcome a fair number of logistical challenges.

“We had to go out together in quarantine, do those Zoom dates,” he said, “then finally travel and be together and make it work.”

Before meeting García, Mathews was in a relationship with stylist Salvador Camarena. The couple’s search for a vacation home in Palm Springs, Calif., Was documented in a 2013 episode of HGTV’s “House Hunters.” In November 2018, however, the couple broke up after nearly a decade together.

Mathews has expressed his desire to one day quit single life and become a father.

“I want to start focusing on my life and my happiness,” he told HuffPost in 2017. “I want to have kids now. I feel like I was married and raised my career. I am soon ready to think about having babies.

Mathews has not announced a wedding date. But he said he felt like he had found a suitable life match for García, whom he described as “so extraordinary”.

“I can’t even believe it, but yes I’m the happiest man,” he said on Tuesday.
