It was announced on May 2 that O’Donnell would appear on season 3 of the revival series “Sex and the City.”

She plays a character named Mary.

“This is Mary #andjustlikethat @hbo,” O’Donnell wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of her with long gray hair to announce her casting.

Fans have speculated that Mary could be a new love interest for Nixon’s character, Miranda Hobbes.

During the show’s first two seasons, Miranda was romantically involved with controversial character Che Diaz, played by Sara Ramirez.

But Ramírez’s exit from the series was revealed in February.

At the time, a source told the Daily Mail: “Sara was fired because Che was no longer bringing anything to the show. After Che broke up with Miranda, the character no longer had any value and fans found them boring.

Nixon finally broke his silence on Ramirez’s departure from the show in an interview with Variety published last week.

“They created such an incredible character — such a controversial character, but such an incredible character,” Nixon said.

“They came in and shook everything up, and then the arc was over.”

Che, a queer non-binary comedian podcaster, tricked Miranda into divorcing Steve (David Eigenberg) while the two shared a steamy romance.

Ramirez, who is non-binary, has already made it clear that they knew their character was unpopular.

“I am very aware of the hatred that exists online,” they told the New York Times.

“But I have to protect my own mental health and my own artistry. And it’s much more important to me because I’m a real human being.

They continued: “In real life, many different human beings come to the table and speak truth to power in multiple ways. And they all land differently with different people. And Che Diaz has his own audience that he speaks to and who really appreciate what he does.

The cast of “And Just Like That” confirmed that production on season 3 began in early May.

Nixon returns alongside Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, Nicole Ari Parker, Sarita Choudhury, Katerina Tannenbaum and Mario Cantone.

Karen Pittman’s departure from the series was announced in March. After playing Professor Nya Wallace for two seasons, she had to leave “AJLT” due to scheduling conflicts.

“AJLT” season 3 is expected to premiere in 2025.
