Rory McILroy added something big to his curriculum vitae, but not in a desirable way.
On Friday at the Canadian RBC Open, the Masters champion underwent an early outing of the tournament after having his second highest score to equalize in any Tour of his career of his career, missing the Cup of 12.
He pulled 8 against 78, and his greatest problems came in a fifth disorderly hole with a quadruple Bogey 8 concerning 8.
He marked the highest score in McILroy since his 78 other shot in the first round of the British Open last year.
He had a double bogey on the hole 11, as well as four bogeys and two birdies.
He also had a double bogey on n ° 11, four bogeys and two birdies on Friday.
He ranked like the highest score in McILroy in any non-house tour of the non-house.
“Of course, it concerns me,” said McILroy, by espn. “You don’t want to draw high scores like the one I made today. However, I felt like I had come here of course with a new driver thinking that this kind was going to be good and solving some of the TEE problems, but that is not the case.”
Friday, marked the fifth time in McILroy’s career according to which he carded a turn of 8, dragging only the 10 out of 80 which he shot during the first round of the 2018 US Open.
McILroy, at 9, was 21 strokes behind Cameron Champ, who entered on Saturday with a two -stroke advance in the last event before the US Open.
The title champion of Masters is not involved in the weekend game in a non-house tour for the first time since the 2023 players’ championship.
“Obviously, by going to Oakmont next week, which you need to do more than anything else, there are successful fairways,” said McILroy. “Always in a way looking for the kind of missing piece of the tee.”
McILroy previously won the Canada Open twice – in 2019 and 2022.
Field was 12 sous and played the first 36 holes without Bogey.
“It is a little crafted, but quite similar to yesterday,” said Champ. “The fairways I want to get a little bit. The Greens slightly, but close enough to the way they were yesterday.”
