Baltimore Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith issued a postgame warning to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Peyton Hendershot after a sideline confrontation Thursday night at Arrowhead Stadium.
In the Ravens’ loss to the Chiefs to kick off the new NFL season, there was a moment early in the fourth quarter when Kansas City star quarterback Patrick Mahomes was scrambling to get a first down.
After doing that, it appears Smith pushed Mahomes late, and the quarterback sprawled on the turf, leading the home crowd to start going crazy, thinking a penalty should have been called.

But the yellow handkerchiefs remained in the referee’s pockets. Smith, who was waving his hands at the time to signal it wasn’t a personal foul, said Mahomes tried to pass it off as a penalty.
“Oh, he missed his shot. Yeah, he missed his shot,” Smith told reporters after the game. “That’s why the referees didn’t call the free kick. It was a great call by the referee.”
But as Smith motioned for the game not to be called, Hendershot, who was in street clothes as an inactive player for the Chiefs during the game, was seen taking exception to Smith’s actions on his quarterback.

The broadcast showed a moment where Hendershot appeared to push Smith, and the linebacker confirmed it after the game with a message as well.
“But whoever No. 88 is, I don’t know who he is, but he better watch out,” Smith said. “He made a nifty little push.”
Reporters quickly questioned Smith again to confirm what had happened, as he also appeared to turn around after Hendershot pushed him on the Chiefs touchline, leading to a melee before the tension dissipated.
“Whoever number 88 is, I have no idea who he is, but I’ll see him when I see him,” Smith concluded before answering another question.
The Chiefs then scored on that run, with rookie Xavier Worthy scoring his second career touchdown on his third touch of the ball in his NFL debut, a 35-yard touchdown on a blown coverage.
Smith’s personal stats are solid, as he led the Ravens in tackles with seven (including four solo), while intercepting Mahomes late in the first half. He did, however, make a horse collar tackle on his first play of the regular season while trying to bring down Rashee Rice.
The Ravens ultimately lost to the defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs in tragic fashion, as they appeared to have a chance to tie, or even win, the game after tight end Isaiah Likely caught what appeared to be a touchdown on the final play of regulation. However, Likely’s toe was inches out of bounds.
Since they’re not division opponents, the Ravens won’t see the Chiefs again until a potential playoff game like the one they had in the AFC Championship Game earlier this year.

If and when that happens, Smith has been very clear that he will see Hendershot after having issues with his actions in Week 1.
