A politician was criticized after having publicly honored the Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma – and refused to move away from his shocking explosion.
Shama Mohamed, spokesperson for Congress – the main opposition party of India – tweeted that the decorated drummer is “big for a sportsman”.
He comes with Sharma, 37, who currently heads the Indian team in the ICC champions trophy.
They face Australia Tuesday evening from 8 p.m. AEDT in Dubai for a place in the final.
“Need to lose weight, and of course the most impressive Captain India never had!” Mohamed published Sunday in a post X now deleted.
The Congress said that his explosive tweet “did not reflect the party’s position” and had urged her to remove it.

Mohamed was anything but remorse, later declaring that Sharma “is overweight” and she was “attacked without reason”
It is understood that the Cricket Control Council in India (BCCI) feared that the tweet could distract the game group.
“It is very unfortunate that these derogatory and demoralizing comments are made when the team is at the crucial stage of a world tournament,” the secretary of the BCCI, Devajit Saikia, told Reuters.
Mohamed was far from being full of remorse.
She defended her tweet, categorical that Sharma must be in better shape.
“I felt that he was overweight and that he had tweeted it. I was attacked for no reason, ”she said.
Under the captain of Virat Kohli, Sharma was passed on the test side due to bad physical form.
He was held as Captain T20 after winning the World Cup last year – but was poor in the recent series of outside tests against Australia.
Meanwhile, Tuesday’s blockbuster against Steve Smith’s men is played in Dubai when India has expressed security problems concerning their match in Pakistan.

The Australian team flew to Dubai last weekend without knowing who would be their opponent in the semi-finals, risking another 2000 km flight to Pakistan.
But after India beat New Zealand in the last group match, South Africa – who also traveled with Australia – will now return to Pakistan before their strength test with the Kiwis on March 5.
“We have guessed in the end and now have the possibility of getting used to conditions,” said Smith.
“We are well prepared and we are impatiently awaiting it.
