“Halfway through, just him being there, flying on the wall,” Roger recalls, “he said to the team, ‘I’m capturing such incredible images that it would be such a shame if we didn’t let’s not share.’ with his fans.'”
As for how Joe introduced him to the tennis champ, Roger added: “‘People would love to see what you go through, the vulnerability and also the beauty of your career.’
And soon it became clear that he was not exaggerating the images.
“And when he sent me a rough cut a few weeks later,” Roger continued with a laugh, “I was watching the movie with my wife and I was like, ‘Oh, this is good. Oh my god, what ‘do I do?’ NOW?’ And now we’re here at the Tribeca Film Festival, it’s pretty crazy.”
