Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend confirm the Who’s “The song is on the farewell tour in North America”

London – The British rock group The Who Are said its latest farewell to North America this summer.

Singer Roger Daltrey and guitarist Pete Townshend confirmed on Thursday that they would play success for a six -decades career during the “Song is over North America Farewell Tour”, named after the group’s hit in 1971.

The group, which in the 1970s had become one of the largest tour groups in the world, easily filling the largest American stadiums, will play its first concert in Florida on August 16, with other dates in cities such as New York, Toronto, Los Angeles and Vancouver, British Columbia, before a last date in Las Vegas on September 28.

“The dream of each musician in the early 1960s was to make great in the American charts,” said Dalty. “For WHO, this dream came true in 1967 and our lives changed forever.”

The group has gone from club show shows of the Woodstock Festival in the United States and become one of the largest box office prints in the world. The group was inducted at Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1990.

DalTrey, 81, and Townshend, two years his junior, were one of the double most prolific acts of rock, surviving on the death of drummer Keith Moon in 1978 and the guitarist of Basse John Entwistle in 2002.

“Today, Roger and I are still carrying the banner of the late Keith Moon and John Entwistle, and, of course, all our longtime WHO fans,” said Townshend. “I must say that although the road has not always been pleasant for me, it is generally easy: the best work I could have had. I always come back. “

Although Dalty did not write songs, he was able to channel the numerous and complicated moods of Townsend – challenge and rage, vulnerability and despair.

Together, they forged some of the most determining sounds of rock: the stammered and sneer delivery of “my generation”, the anxious cry of “They are all wasted!” From “Baba O’riley”, and the cry of all time of “will no longer be fooled”. Two albums – “Tommy” and “Quadrophenia” – were also adapted to successful films in 1975 and 1979, respectively.

The preventing tickets will take place from May 13 before the general sale from May 16.

“Well, all good things have to end. It’s a poignant period,” said Townshend. “For me, playing with the American public and those in Canada has always been incredible.”

Daltrey, who said that a throat specialist told him that he should have a “day off” after each concert he makes, and Townshend also revealed that there was no plan for a farewell visit to the United Kingdom

“Let’s see if we survive it,” said Dalty. “I do not mean that there will not be (a farewell tour in the United Kingdom), but just as I am not confident to say that there will be.”
