A 65 -year -old man was injured after falling approximately 45 feet while widening rocks on a popular climbing site in the Trails regional park, according to officials and a witness.
The incident occurred just after 11 a.m., according to the San Diego fire rescue department.
The Kyle Heavey climbing instructor said that he taught a student along the climbers in the north when the man fell from 40 or 50 feet. The man was free to climb solo or climbing without rope, said Heavey.
He said he called 911, then he and a colleague instructor ran to help the fallen man, who was not part of their educational group. Heavey said that he and the other instructor are both certified from the first stakeholders.

“We did what we could,” said Heavey, in particular trying to be bleeding from man.
Fire spokesperson Jose Ysea said the man had undergone a head injury. He was rescued by a fire rescue helicopter and flew in a neighboring hospital to be treated. He had no information on the state of man.
